home again

Wow, what a whirlwind week! After a long day of travel, we finally made it home. Kylie was such a trooper. She wins the Best Baby Award! We had such a good time and I was so blessed. I'm looking forward to more opportunities of going back. Honduras is the 2nd poorest Central American country. Such an eye-opening experience, but so necessary. I can't believe all the things we complain about here-we are so spoiled. We met some wonderful people and spent some great time with the family. Please continue to keep Mike and Golden and their kids in your prayers. The're doing great, but it definitely takes time to adjust to a new culture and way of life.

One experience that really blessed us was meeting Sister Maria. She is a nun who started a daycare for small children who were left to fend for themselves while their parents were working. She gave up the opportunity to live in the United States to do this and her family thinks she is crazy. She told us she has 92 children now. She feeds them everyday, trusting that the Lord will provide the food, which He faithfully has. At this point, her only source of water is whatever the rain brings. She is hoping to start a nursing home too. She is so giving and so joyful, even in the midst of such difficulty. And the love she has for the children is so evident; she even doted over Kylie. We got to help pass out food for the daily meal and entertain the children a little, but I think we were the ones ministered to.

Pictures will be coming soon...

quick update

We are having a wonderful time in Honduras. Yesterday we spent most of the day with Mike and Golden and their family. Good times visiting. Last night we had a barbecue with the pastor of CC Pena Blanca and some of the teachers of the bilingual school. We ended the night with a time of worship around the campfire. Today we saw the school, visited an amazing daycare run by a very special nun and saw the building site of CC Pena Blanca. Honduras is absolutely beautiful. This is my first experience in a 3rd world country, excluding Tijuana. I'm convinced everyone should go at least one time in their life. Tell more later. Kylie is doing great. We've been really blessed and having a wonderful time fellowshipping with Rich and Rebecca as well. Tomorrow is our last full day here and then we head home on Friday. Continue to pray for us. God bless!

on an adventure

Donathan, Kylie and I leave for Honduras tomorrow with our friends Rich and Rebecca. We will be visiting Donathan's sister and family in Pena Blanca for five days and seeing what the Lord is doing there. Check out Michael and Golden's blog to see where we will be going. We would appreciate your prayers, especially traveling with the baby. Brendan and Mackenzie are in Missouri right now, spending time with their Nana and Papa. They flew out yesterday with Nana and I'm sure they're having a wonderful time. We'll post more as we're able.
